2026-10-06 note: Duke refreshed the Seattle interim wiki and flagged a mailing-list prerequisite for venue access. Duke’s “Seattle Interim updates” (list, Oct-5, permalink) points attendees at the updated wg-materials wiki for meeting details. He noted that two prospective attendees are not subscribed to the list, so he can’t collect the email addresses needed to admit them to the F5 host venue, and asked the group to help identify them. He also warned that “attendance will be painful if people aren’t checking the list” — logistics in the run-up to Oct 12–15 are moving over email. No agenda change (rev-04 of Oct-1 still stands).

2026-10-03 note: The MOQT editors posted the Seattle issue triage Duke asked for — 23 priority issues, about a third of the open backlog.

  • afrind, “List of issues to discuss at the hybrid interim” (Oct-2, permalink), is the detailed issue/PR breakdown Duke requested on Oct-1. The editors flagged 23 priority issues for the Wed/Thu MOQT-issues blocks and asked the WG to read and discuss them async beforehand: #869, #899, #1316, #1352, #1354, #1582, #1678, #1704, #1720, #1743, #1792, #1828, #1857, #1875, #1897, #1933, #1934, #1941, #1947, #1951, #1958, #1959 and #1962.
  • The rest of the backlog breaks down as ~34 editorial/design issues awaiting a PR, 11 with an open PR under review, and ~20 non-transport / parked / blocked — so the 23 are roughly a third of the open total. Several overlap the Sep-30→Oct-1 pre-Seattle triage already on moq-transport (#1958 stale Largest Object, #1959 standalone-FETCH relative filters, #1962 FILL_PARAMETERS, #899 multi-range FETCH).
  • Logistics: Duke also sent a “Food Allergies” call (Oct-2) for the in-person Seattle attendees.

2026-10-02 note: The Seattle agenda is revised and announced, slides are due Oct-8, and the Oct-26 virtual interim is formally scheduled as interim-30.

  • Agenda rev-04 (Oct-1 17:27 UTC), agenda-interim-2026-moq-25-moq-01; the interim-26/28/29 agendas now just point to it. Duke announced it on-list at 17:30 UTC (permalink): slides are due by Oct-8, and the MOQT editors are asked to post a detailed issue/PR breakdown. Changes from rev-01:
    • A new slot, “Deployment Results: SWITCH_FROM and Group metadata” (Steven Riedl, Wed 13:20–13:40).
    • The Auth Design Team goes from 30 to 60 minutes (Thu 10:00–11:00).
    • URIs is extended to 09:45–10:35, the Demo moves to 12:05–12:35 alongside lunch, and SSTS moves to 12:35–13:20.
    • Still no MSF/CMSF/LOC/LOCMAF slot.
  • Auth needs more time: afrind replied (19:23 UTC, permalink) that one hour can’t cover the 11 open auth-labelled MOQT issues. He and Swett offered some of their MOQT-issues time if the design team prepares slides and leads those discussions. No chair reply yet.
  • interim-2026-moq-30 = Oct-26 virtual, 16:30–18:00 UTC, agenda “MoQT Issues” (session page, Meetecho session 36001). Duke: “There are no comments. 26 October is the date” (permalink). The IESG announced it at 21:11 UTC.
  • draft-22 published the same evening (21:36 UTC), so the Seattle target is no longer an editors’ copy. See moq-transport.
  • The “Draftification” thread (top-N / SSTS) has no replies yet. IETF 127 sessions are still unscheduled.

2026-09-30 note: Seattle now has an agenda, IETF 127 has three sessions, and interim-24 has minutes. All of it landed on Mon Sep-28 within about two hours.

  • Seattle agenda posted (Sep-28 16:33 UTC) as datatracker docs agenda-interim-2026-moq-25-moq-01 (identical copies under interim-26/28/29; interim-27 still “TBD”). No list announcement. Wed Oct-14: URIs (Cullen, 0945–1030) · SSTS (Will, 1045–1130) · Demo (Yu, 1230–1300) · MOQT Issues (Alan/Ian, 1300–1700). Thu Oct-15: Interop Discussion (Mike, 0935) · Auth Design Team (Mike, 1000) · MOQT Issues through the day, incl. a working lunch · Next Interim Planning (1300) · Parking Lot (1530) · adjourn 1600. The agenda names people only by first name; “Yu” is presumably Yu You (Nokia) and “Mike” presumably Mike English, who has given the interop report and led the auth design team (both unconfirmed). No slot for MSF, CMSF, LOC, LOCMAF, catalog or top-N. Oct 12–13 remain interop days with no datatracker session.
  • IETF 127 (San Francisco, from Nov-14): three sessions requested. Duke filed 2h + 2h + 1h on Sep-28 16:32 UTC, and AD Mike Bishop approved the third (1h) at 17:18. This settles the Sep-25 “two or three” question; per Duke’s own warning, the third is “virtually guaranteed to be the last one on Friday.” Not yet scheduled; no agenda.
  • interim-24 minutes posted: minutes-interim-2026-moq-24-202609211630 rev-00, uploaded by Westerlund Sep-28 15:03 UTC (a week after the meeting; interim-23’s took one day). The text is essentially the ietfminutes.org AI summary. It confirms all three chatlog-derived outcomes recorded on Sep-22: (1) draft-22 + draft-18 are the Seattle interop target; (2) binding pause to location/range filters rejected, so pause stays orthogonal to filter state (#1825); (3) the unaligned hard-switch threshold for SWITCH_FROM moves from == to >=. New in the minutes: a February 2027 hybrid interim aligned with Mile High Video (Denver/Boulder), with Jennings saying Cisco might host in Boulder. Action items: the editors write the tuple canonical-notation PR (tuples ≥ 1 byte, zero-tuple prefixes valid), and afrind hands primary ownership of SWITCH_FROM to Gwendal Simon, Zafer Gürel and Will Law.
  • “Draftification” (Sep-28 16:26 UTC, permalink): the chairs pre-announce a consensus call on whether top-N and SSTS go into core MOQT or a separate expansion draft. They want the discussion on-list by Oct-13 (“interop time would be a lovely time to have high-bandwidth discussions”) so no meeting time is spent on it, and the call itself follows soon after.   • LOCMAF liaison out (Sep-28 15:04 UTC): liaison 2285 to MPEG WG3, reply requested by Oct-30. The LOCMAF adoption call waits until then. See moq-locmaf.
  • Late registration: Duke’s “Register for Seattle” (Sep-28 15:30 UTC, permalink) says attendees are “well past deadline” (Sep-26), but anyone who signs the attendee page “right away” can still slip onto the list for the host.
  • Oct-26 virtual interim: the Sep-30 deadline for concerns closes with no on-list objection to Duke’s Sep-16 proposal. It is not yet on the datatracker; the newest interim number is -29.

2026-09-22 note: interim-2026-moq-24 was HELD Sep-21 — and it moved the Seattle interop target off draft-20 to draft-18 + draft-22. Minutes were not posted as of Sep-22; the datatracker session carries only the agenda, chair slides, an “MoQT issues and PRs 9/21” deck and a chatlog, so the outcomes below come from that chatlog plus Duke’s Slack #moq post the same hour and should be re-checked when Westerlund uploads the minutes (interim-23’s took one day). (1) Interop target = draft-22 and draft-18 — Duke: “In the meeting just now, we declared draft-22 (along with -18) to be the Interop target. -22 is functionally identical to -20 except the ALPN, so there should be no practical difference.” This supersedes the interim-23 draft-20 decision and restores the interim-21 framing; since -21/-22 are structural/editorial revisions of the draft-20 wire, the wire-freeze is unaffected, and draft-18 is kept a first-class target rather than best-effort. Note draft-22 was not yet published (newest moq-transport revision: -21, Sep-8), and the nightly interop-runner still runs draft-18. (2) #1636 empty namespace: leaning to each tuple element must carry ≥1 byte, but zero tuples is allowed (English, +1 Swett); a reserved .all wildcard was rejected (Jennings). (3) #1825 Location-Filter: filter state is orthogonal to pause state — Law: “I would expect an unpause to resume the prior filter state” — and Jennings’s follow-up on the issue points implementers at the meeting for what to try next. (4) SWITCH_FROM: mid-object reset accepted; the exact-(=) vs at-least-(>=) Start Group question to be spelled as a flag or enum; Curley: “you always want to switch down based on the subscriber’s current/next group, not the publisher’s.” (5) PUBLISH_NAMESPACE: <> stays valid as a default upstream, and afrind rejected waiting for SUB_TRACKS — it “defeats the reason we added publish” (the 0.5-RTT saving). No LOCMAF adoption discussion appears in the chatlog; that call remains parked behind the MPEG liaison. Logistics: Seattle registration link circulated; Jennings floated Cisco hosting a future meeting in Boulder.

2026-09-10 note: The interim-2026-moq-23 minutes are now posted — resolving the “minutes pending” watch and confirming the Sep-8 outcomes, with one change: the Seattle interop target is set to draft-20. Magnus Westerlund uploaded minutes-interim-2026-moq-23-202609081630 (rev-01) to the datatracker Sep-9 12:51 UTC and announced it on-list (permalink, verified). Duke chaired; 21 participants. Decisions (recorded by topic — these are AI-generated minutes whose PR/issue numbers are systematically wrong, verified against GitHub, so only the one correct number, PR #1901, is cited): (1) Seattle interop target = draft-20 — after a poll (“I will be able to support draft-20 in Seattle”: Yes 7 / No 5 / No opinion 4 of 21) the group agreed “the formal interop target will be Draft 20,” with draft-18 implementations welcome best-effort and a wire-freeze (no further wire-breaking merges into the target). (1) The editors cut [[moq-transport|draft-ietf-moq-transport-21]] (published Sep-8 21:08 UTC, 159 pp) — the “review the document refactor” agenda slot resolving into the restructuring revision the interim-2026-moq-21 minutes forecast (draft-20 editorial → draft-21 restructuring → draft-22 next interop target). afrind + ianswett built it from a draft-21-retro branch off the draft-20 tag, replaying only structural-move PRs, and verified with a sentence-diff tool that -21 is “100% wire and semantically equivalent to draft-20” (15 sentences removed as obsolete/contradictory, 31 added, 20 modified — almost all navigational). 2026-09-08 note: interim-2026-moq-23 runs today (Sep-8, 16:30–18:00 UTC) — the third of the four biweekly Vienna→Seattle sessions — and its agenda is a document-refactor review plus a Seattle-interop-plan decision. The IESG-booked session (July 17, agenda TBD) still had no posted agenda on Sep-7, prompting Cullen Jennings’s “Is there an agenda for sept 8 meeting?” on the list (permalink, verified real — From: Cullen Fluffy Jennings <fluffy@iii.ca>). afrind replied the same day with the draft agenda (“was circulated among editors and chairs” first; permalink, verified d=meta.com): review the document refactor (the draft-21 restructuring afrind drove to a peak Sep-7 — #1917 merged + #1918–#1932 opened), decide on the Seattle interop plan (the Oct 12–13 interop days), an FYI that fill-fetch landed in draft-20 (#1673), then a discussion queue of long-parked design questions — whether to eliminate FORWARD, SWITCH_FROM (#1674/#1675), default publisher priority (#1770, the one Cullen reopened on-list after interim-22 closed it pending feedback), whether FETCH_OK needs an End Location / End of Track (#1897), SUB_NS/TRACKS prefix overlap (#1792), empty-namespace handling (#1696), subgroup-or-group-level properties (#1857), and the new SUBSCRIBE-metadata-only option (#1933) — plus, in a follow-up, time for the URI-resolution draft (the Sep-5 Cullen/Suhas move of URI resolution + TLS cert matching into moq-discovery). 2026-08-25 note: interim-2026-moq-22 was HELD Aug-24 16:30–18:00 UTC — materials are posted, minutes are pending, and the outcomes show up as GitHub artifacts. The datatracker carries the meeting’s agenda (rev-01), chair slides, a “PRs and Issues” deck, bluesheets, a YouTube recording, and a chatlog; the formal minutes doc (expected minutes-interim-2026-moq-22-202608241630) had not posted at check time (interim-21’s Aug-10 minutes lagged ~4 days, so this is normal). The session merged nothing, but its two Needs-Discussion issues resolved into same-day artifacts: on #1800 “NAMESPACE lacks Parameters” — the agreed venue for the parked PUBLISH_NAMESPACE debate — Ian Swett opened PR #1858 “Add Parameters back to NAMESPACE” (+7/−0, Aug-24 18:03 UTC, Fixes #1800) minutes after the meeting, so the direction is extend NAMESPACE rather than add PUBLISH_NAMESPACE (#1854 still BLOCKED); and Michal Hošna opened #1857 “Metadata in the data plane: no scope between Track and Object” mid-meeting. 2026-08-14 note: The Aug-10 virtual-interim minutes are posted — and they set the draft-20→22 pipeline to WGLC. After four wiki updates flagged them as “unposted,” Martin Duke posted “[Moq] 8/10 minutes” to the list Aug-14 and the datatracker doc minutes-interim-2026-moq-21-202608101630 (rev -00) was uploaded 17:49 UTC. Duke chaired; afrind led the transport-issue review and Will Law presented FETCH pacing. The headline is the editorial pipeline: “Draft 20 will be cut immediately prior to the editorial meeting and will consist of purely editorial changes … Draft 21 will capture the output of the editorial meeting … Draft 22 will be published as the next official interop target.” — so the Aug-13 “first draft-20-bound merges” are framed as editorial, and the interop runner (still on draft-18) now has a named future target. 2026-07-17 note: The Vienna → Seattle virtual-interim cadence is now fixed — four biweekly sessions Aug 10 / Aug 24 / Sep 8 / Sep 21, all 16:30–18:00 UTC. Martin Duke’s “Re: Proposed Virtual Interim dates” (list, July 16, permalink) confirms the schedule, adjusted from his June-30 five-date proposal after list feedback (concerns due July 14): Aug 10, Aug 24, Sep 8 (a Tuesday, shifted off US Labor Day), Sep 21 — all 1630–1800 UTC, the same slot the WG has used all spring. The IESG Secretary formally announced the Aug 10 session (permalink, agenda TBD, Meetecho), now on the datatracker as interim-2026-moq-21; four “New Interim Meeting Request” tool messages the same day correspond to the datatracker entries for the series. The remaining three sessions were formally booked July 17 — the IESG Secretary posted “WG Virtual Meeting” announcements for Aug 24 / Sep 8 / Sep 21 (all 16:30–18:00 UTC, agenda TBD, Meetecho), so the full Vienna→Seattle series is now on the datatracker. These are the biweekly working sessions between IETF 126 (Vienna, July 20/23/24) and the October Seattle hybrid interim (Oct 12–15) — the scaffolding for working down the pre-WGLC backlog, notably the transport-19 IANA-Considerations punch-list IANA’s Amanda Baber returned July 16 (see discussions-2026-07). 2026-07-16 note: The October hybrid interim now has a venue and dates — Martin Duke’s “Next Hybrid Interim” (list, July 15) sets it at F5 Tower, Seattle, Oct 12–15. The North-American venue the June 21 Poll: Interim Location (deadline July 5, “no serious objection to any location except Costa Rica”) had left “TBD” is now concrete: F5 Tower, 801 5th Avenue, Seattle, WA, with Oct 12–13 for interop testing and Oct 14–15 for issue/technical discussion (permalink). Duke encourages attendees to book travel (“hotel options are essentially infinite”). The interop-first / issues-second split mirrors the June London format. This is the first interim scheduled past IETF 126 (Vienna, July 20/23/24). Separately, two Vienna-logistics posts landed the same day — Magnus Westerlund’s slide-upload instructions (upload/update in datatracker so slides surface in Meetecho; don’t select an already-past session) and Jana Iyengar’s pointer to a MOPS-WG panel on real-world live/broadcast video-streaming pain points (IETF 126, Tue July 21 09:00–10:30) — and the MoQ session agenda quietly advanced agenda-126-moq-02 → -03 (dated July 14, after the July-13 “Final Agenda posted” declaration). 2026-07-07 note: interim-2026-moq-18 was HELD July 6 16:30 UTC — and its output is a same-day draft-19 cut plus a coordinated WG draft wave. The session page posts an agenda (topics: fill-fetch, switch_from, rst/fin handling, filters, SUBSCRIBE_TRACKS Parameters copied to PUBLISH, multiple concurrent subscriptions per Track, adjustable default publisher priority), “Chair opening remarks” + a “MOQT Issues and PRs” slide deck, a chat log, and bluesheets — but no formal written minutes at check time. The decisions are legible in the same-day GitHub state: [[moq-transport|draft-ietf-moq-transport-19]] was cut July 6 (first since -18), landing the ready items — Mo Zanaty’s Range Filters #1765 (the one gated Design PR to make the cut) plus clarifications #1698 (FIN vs RST), #1788 (SUBSCRIBE_TRACKS→PUBLISH), #1775 (concurrent subscriptions), #1613 (MAX_REQUEST_UPDATES), #1799 (enums), #1802 (release notes) — while the contested Design PRs defer past -19 (fill-fetch #1673, SWITCH_FROM #1674, Subscription Fill #1642, SSTS #1638). Alongside -19 the WG published loc-03, secure-objects-01, a major privacy-pass-auth-03, and englishm’s relay-dos-01. Martin Duke then opened a Consensus Call on Draft-18 — review the -17→-18 diff and file issues by July 20 (the first Vienna session), higher bar after. IETF-126 agenda requests are now flowing (July 7): Suhas for MoQ DPoP Proof + MoQ Tempo drafts, Cullen for MoQ Mocha + secure-objects + the Authorization Design Team — DPoP Proof / Tempo / Mocha being new draft names not yet on the datatracker. 2026-06-27 note: The IETF 126 (Vienna) sessions are now formally scheduled. The IETF Secretariat posted “moq - Requested sessions have been scheduled for IETF 126” to the list June 26 — confirming the three MOQ sessions that the interim-17 minutes recorded and the June-26 agenda-request call previewed (July 20 12:00 UTC + July 23 14:30 UTC + July 24 14:00 UTC), moving the two later slots from “awaiting scheduling” to scheduled. The July-6 agenda-request deadline (= the interim-2026-moq-18 meeting + the draft-19 Design-PR cutoff) is unchanged. See discussions-2026-06.

2026-06-26 note: The IETF 126 (Vienna) agenda-request call opens — and the datatracker now shows MOQ’s three sessions. Martin Duke posts “IETF 126 Agenda requests” to the list June 25: anyone wanting time should email the chairs with how much they need, leave adequate room for discussion (non-interactive presentations are poor slot candidates), and presentations not centered on MOQT protocol work “are likely to end up in the Friday afternoon session.” Deadline July 6 — the same date as interim-2026-moq-18 and the draft-19 Design-PR submission cutoff, so July 6 is now a triple deadline. The datatracker meetings page lists the three MOQ sessions the interim-17 minutes had recorded as “3 slots at Vienna”: July 20 12:00 UTC (approved), July 23 14:30 UTC (awaiting scheduling), and July 24 14:00 UTC (awaiting scheduling) — with the late-Friday slot reserved for the non-transport drafts (MSF, LOC, C4M, privacy-pass-auth, CMSF, secure-objects). Separately, Youngkwon Lim flags on-list (June 25) that the ITU-T SG21 / MPEG joint-workshop program is published — a cross-SDO media-standards venue of tangential WG interest. interim-2026-moq-18 (July 6, 16:30 UTC) remains the only scheduled future interim. 2026-06-23 note: The June 22 interim is now on the record as interim-2026-moq-17 — minutes are posted and they resolve the SSTS/switching design, which had been the WG’s biggest open question all spring. The off-calendar meeting the wiki flagged June 22 did get a datatracker entry retroactively (as interim-2026-moq-17, not the -12 the wiki had guessed from the old numbering), and Martin Duke posted “Yesterday’s minutes available” to the list June 23. Substance of the 16:30-UTC session:

  • DTS is renamed to SSTS — “Sender Side Track Switching” (“this title more accurately reflects the functionality,” RFC editors retain final naming authority). This retires the “DTS” label the wiki has tracked since the May SWITCH/DTS consensus call.
  • Will Law presented a pre-recorded Yu You/Nokia demo: three tracks (500/1500/3000 kbps) in one switching set, a relay receiving all three but forwarding only one, “smooth, continuous switching by toggling the forward state,” stable 1080p when switching is disabled, and successful handling of “fast-frequency switching close to segment boundaries” under aggressive throughput oscillation.

The Apr 27 virtual interim ran the editor agenda. Decisions emerged on GitHub between Apr 27 18:36 UTC and Apr 28 03:43 UTC (mostly recorded by ian-swett as PR/issue comments):

  1. Required Request ID — REMOVE from draft-18. ian-swett Apr 27 18:42 UTC on issue #1603: “Conclusion was to remove required-request-id from draft 18 and fix Joining Fetch (if necessary?). Those who believe some functionality in this space is useful, such as for make-before-break, should explore those use cases in more detail and further describe what, if any, dependency structure between requests is needed in MoQ. Tentative plan is to discuss these at the London hybrid interim in June.” The three-way fork (status quo / PR #1604 structural / PR #1613 flow control) collapsed to a fourth, simplest option: delete the field. Net: ~585 min ≈ 9h45m of formally-requested time against ~8 hours of formal-session capacity across June 11-12 (interim-2026-moq-08/09/10/11). ~22% oversubscribed at the deadline; afrind’s MOQT issue block alone is ~4h, and the Mo Zanaty + Cullen filter-design cluster adds another 230min directly addressing PR #1518 / PR #1401 / #1633. The chairs will need to compress per-issue time, defer items to follow-up interims (May 26 virtual is the obvious candidate), or rule a chunk out-of-scope.

Format-strict precedent: Martin Duke rejected 2 of the first 4 requests (Cullen, Will Law’s initial) for not separating presentation vs discussion time. Both resubmitted compliantly within hours. The May 20 deadline-extension question (Mo Zanaty May 19) was resolved May 20 via Martin Duke’s “submit-and-cancel-later” pragmatic compromise — the May 20 deadline stays in force as policy, with the chairs accommodating uncertainty by allowing post-deadline cancellation rather than post-deadline filing. Net regulatory outcome: format strictness is now the precedent (rejections), but deadline strictness is the spirit not the letter (cancel-later allowed).
